The Xcalibur demonstrates how it is possible to
realize a scale looking glider with high efficiency. The all composite
fibreglass carbon fibre reinforced wing is in two piece for an easy
transport, use a RG 15 modified profile to offer the best performance in a
wide speed range, has big size ailerons and flaps to let you perform all the
aerobatics you like and take advantage changing the wing camber (as usually
made on F3B and F3J machine). The fuselage is realized in carbon reinforced
fibreglass, is strong and big enough to accept standard size servos and a
big battery for long flight time; there is plenty of room for a big electric
motor and up to 20 cells and is quite easy to install a tow release device
if you like. All moving elevators halves are detachable for easy transport
and are actuated through a cnc machined alloy bellcrank turning on brass
bushes.
The Xcalibur is the best choice when you are looking for a fun model suited
to all place and flying conditions, good for slope flying, aerotowing, easy
to convert to electric flight and ... Nice looking too ....
The model needs 4 micro servos (2 ailerons, 2 flaps) at least 2 std servos
(elevator and rudder) and a transmitter capable of dealing with 4 servos
wings.
If you will install the tow release device you will need another servo. We
strongly suggest the use of a good quality receiver.
If you intend to make it electric, you will need
a good motor with at least 350 to 400 watt power; the fuselage is big enough
for most electric motor brushed or brushless ad up to 20 SC cells; if you
have to buy the motor we may suggest the Twister 19 or 29 (depending on
cells number) from Electronic models, they are cheap, efficient, light and
reliable.
Available on request also in full carbon version (this one is slightly
heavier and most suited to strong flying conditions) or just with the
carbon-kevlar fuselage (see also page 16-17)
